Sunflowers 04:30
The sun flowered Burst through Broke Choked Green to dust Singe Sear Whispered the willow Blows words through the cracks in, gaps in What is this? Fingernail Staring intently Split skin Your mind My biology A feeble one track Sentence overplayed What is this? Why procreate? Bringing life into flames The sunflowers Couldn’t breathe Couldn’t stand

Bare feet echo off a mirrored floor, skin sticks for a second and then peels leaving a faint warm print slowly evaporating. Look up, one eye is visible as she’s softly whispering into an ear. The face obscured. The sound of the oscillating fan hums along cold convulsing bodies knocking against bleached vinyl tiles. Across the hall hopeful legs move, soon to be left dissatisfied. A far away conversation hangs in the background. Pay attention and words appear. Forewords then backwards, moving in and out of sync like limbs, curtains caught in wind. A piece of fruit, oozing juice lays dormant in a heavy steel bowl. Disinterested fingers scratching up thick vines, bare no flowers bare no fruit. The only sun it’s seen through a crack in the blind glimmers off a suntan reflector being used in view by a leather headless torso. Soak in the artificial bulbs and repeated fractures cause warm viscos to run down from within. Keep it in. Keep it in. Contained in a locked box, a room with no doors just soft velvet corridors. Figments of imagination, fragments of reality cut through. Can’t tell which one. The tap drips, drips. Pouring and dribbling over chest, a companion that will eat death with full cheeks of cake and moves to distant concrete streets. The like to never see when locked in psychotic dreams, locked inside chaotic dreams, locked in psychotic dreams, locked inside chaotic dreams.

“Cardiff’s own breakout alternative stars of the near future” - Echoes & Dust

Over the past three years the band’s reputation as a formidable live force has grown following gigs with the likes of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Bob Log III, Hey Colossus and Acid Mothers Temple amongst many more.

“Heavy feedbacker psychedelia with punk and electronic touches” Buzz Mag

Their debut album Oblong is an exceedingly potent blend of ethereal psychedelica, doom and punk with adept flourishes of noise rock, electronics and improv.

Recorded at Foel Studios and Coach House Sessions the album has been specially remastered for vinyl release on Box Records by Sam Grant (Richard Dawson, Du Blonde, Hen Ogledd, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs).

The album is completed with songs Sunflowers, Dim Break, Behind The Wall Of Sleep and Wunsch which align the lysergic psychedelics of Velvet Underground with the bewitching magic of Chelsea Wolfe and the mythical atmospherics of SunnO))).

“Obey Cobra are a name likely to be spread around Cardiff pretty fast – and ought to be heard a lot further afield.” Echoes & Dust

The breadth of genres and sounds Obey Cobra explore across the course of Oblong is breathtaking, every song projecting the enchanting assuredness of a unique and captivating band.
